“Bishop Long Not Settling/Trial Goes To Court”

“We were in court last week, discovery is happening right now. We’re setting up deposition dates, so the litigation is proceeding along,” said BJ Bernstein.

Bernstein is the lawyer representing four young men, who filed lawsuits against Bishop Eddie Long, and told Channel 2 Action News the lawsuits are moving forward, and she will soon begin taking depositions.

“We’re talking about getting forward and going through with the case and planning for deadlines set by the judge” Bernstein added.

Bernstein would not comment on any other pending lawsuits, or additional victims.

Anthony Flagg, Jamal Parris, Maurice Robinson and Spencer LeGrande filed civil suits against Long, accusing him of using his spiritual authority to coerce the young men into sexual relationships.

Long has since denied the claims in court documents, but admitted serving as a mentor to the men.

“Is Old-Fashion Phased Out People?”

Good day, CEO Readers!!

Again, I oppose the question, has old fashion played out along with answering machines, rotary dialing and busy signals?  It goes without saying that this translates to romance, dating and marriage too!

Can two people come together and find a happy and peaceful medium between the new and the old?

In a conversation I had the other evening with my crony, he said, “women of this generation don’t do what they used to do back in the day and my oh my how times have changed!”

The conversation came about as we were listening to the lyrics of a favorite Whitney Houston song of mine: “Things just ain’t the way that they used to be · Back in the day when a man meant security · He’d be working hard all week, baby kick back and throw up your feet, let me fix you a treat, so it might be love and sweet”

The song talks about “old school love” when he ran down how the ladies today are not old school anymore.

He said:

  • Women don’t cook,
  • They don’t behave like ladies,
  • They don’t give you anything to look forward to. (meaning they give-up the goods too quick)
  • They don’t care for and/or about their man
  • They don’t trust men
  • And they don’t take off their man’s shoes anymore (The one thing his mother always did for his father). I died laughing at that one.

What are your thoughts? My CEO ladies, in particular! Do you find this to be true or a little embellished?

In the meantime, here’s the song for your listening pleasure. 🙂

“Baby Born With Massive Head Swelling”

Neurosurgeons at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas are fighting to save the life of an 11-month old baby, born with a rare condition that has caused his head to swell more than twice the normal size.

“Baby Klaus,” as his parents and local media are calling him, was born with hydrocephalus, a build-up of excess fluid in the brain that has caused his head to swell to more than 130% larger than a typical newborn’s head.

After several doctors near their home in west Texas refused to operate or told them that their baby would die soon, the stricken baby’s parents, who identified themselves as Klaus Sr. and Beatrice, found a hopeful savior in Dr. David Jimenez, the chairmen of the department of neurosurgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Jimenez and his staff inserted a tube in the baby’s head to drain the fluid and relieve the pressure, and the child’s head is already about a foot smaller than it was when his parents brought him in about two weeks ago, San Antonio’s KENS5-TV reported.

Still, doctors and hydrocephalus experts said Baby Klaus’s had a particular severe case and that progress would be slow.

Known to doctors as “water on the brain,” hydrocephalus occurs in about 1 out of 500 babies born and can cause brain damage, if left untreated, the condition can be fatal.

“Alicia Keys Boycotts Facebook & Twitter”

For a greater good!

Celebrities have joined a new campaign called Digital Life Sacrifice on behalf of Alicia Keys’ charity, Keep a Child Alive.

The entertainers plan to sign off of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day. The participants will sign back on when the charity raises $1 million.

“It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys said in a phone interview from New York last week.

For the campaign – which also includes Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Janelle Monae and Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz – celebrities have filmed “last tweet and testament” videos and will appear in ads showing them lying in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths.

“It’s so important to shock you to the point of waking up,” Keys said. “It’s not that people don’t care or it’s not that people don’t want to do something, it’s that they never thought of it quite like that.”

Keys who has 2.6 million followers on twitter said, the foundation, which began in 2003, will accept donations through text messages and bar-code technology, which is featured in the charity’s Buy Life campaign and will raise efforts to support families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

Of course media whore, Kootie/Kim Kardasian (pictured below) is the first to leak her ad for the cause.

“A Turkey Free Thanksgiving Dinner”

I was asked by many of you to post a write-up I did last year regarding my meal as a vegetarian on Thanksgiving day. Well as promised here it is, photo above and all.

This is my 10th year celebrating a Thanksgiving meal as a vegetarian and I might add, some people who “love me” have decided to give up their Turkey on tomorrow as well. LOL…

Trust me, shifting the focus from the bird to the rest of the meal can have a surprising effect on both your eating habits and the creativity of your cooking.

I always allow the vegetables to play a major role at the table from which I’ll dine and this is exciting to some who wish to add variety to their meal.

A turkey will be present and in the midst of tomorrow’s dinner, it just won’t be “the center of the meal”.

There will be collard greens, string beans, stuffing, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, yams, asparagus, broccoli, spinach, rice, baked potatoes, fish and that’s right; plenty or cornbread.

And just to think.., ten years ago, I thought being a vegetarian would make my holidays dull and boring but instead it forced me to be a better cook! And before you ask..”Yes I can cook”

Have a “Happy Thanksgiving” my CEO family….
