Bill Cosby is best remembered for The Cosby Show, Fat Albert and those Jell-O pudding pop commercials but lately, the comedian who has that ‘father figure’ image is being accused of sexual assault. An image that is contradictory to this voice and message he sends to the black community.

Comedian Hannibal Buress jogged our memory in a stand up routine he did last weekend and reminded us all that Bill Cosby is an accused rapist. Buress homed in during his set Thursday at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia (Cosby’s home town).

“And it’s even worse because Bill Cosby has the fucking smuggest old black man public persona that I hate,” Buress said.  “Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the ’80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom. Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby. So, brings you down a couple of notches. … I’ve done this bit onstage, and people don’t believe. People think I’m making it up. …That shit is upsetting. If you didn’t know about it, trust me. You leave here and google ‘Bill Cosby rape.’ It’s not funny. That shit has more results than Hannibal Buress.” 

Burress is correct!

The myriad allegations leveled against Bill Cosby over the years are no joke. In 2004, Andrea Constand brought a civil lawsuit against Cosby that grew to include 13 other women, all of whom reported being drugged and raped by one of America’s most beloved entertainers. Cosby settled with her under undisclosed terms in 2006. 

Notably, two other women — who presumably had nothing to gain financially, as the statute of limitations had run out on their cases — also shared their stories with major media outlets. Their accounts included  similar details: Cosby took them under his wing and, on multiple occasions, fed them alcohol laced with drugs and assaulted them.

And yet, despite the multiple victims and reports of a decades-long streak of rape, America seems to have chosen to forgive and forget. Completing the circle of denial, Cosby’s new biography conspicuously omits his sexual assault allegations, as if they never happened. Cosby and his lawyers are slick, they prove that with money and power, incidents like this can be swept and kept under a rug.

So there it is people, Dr. Huxtable — America’s dad — isn’t that lovable television character “in real life” who visited your living rooms week after week. The man is a slick accused rapist. His time is up though and I believe his season of exposure has come. Why? Because in time, God reveals all things.

In a year when Republicans have been able to harness economic anxiety to their distinct advantage, the upcoming Senate election is crucial this year. It is increasingly clear that states such as, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas and North Carolina will be the most crucial in determining which party controls the Senate.

According to CNN, nearly 7 in 10 Americans are angry at the direction the country is headed and 53% of Americans disapprove of President Barack Obama’s job performance and a dysfunctional Washington, two troubling signs for Democrats one week before the midterm elections.

Democrats are battling to try and save the Senate majority, while hoping to prevent more losses in the House, which the GOP controls by a 234 to 201 margin. Yet several state polls in the past month of contested races show that Democrats are in danger of losing control of the majority.

In the meantime, the GOP’s plan and position has been to block the vote. To discourage minorities from voting in those southern states where democratic president Barack Obama won big in 2008 and in 2012.

Rev. Al Sharpton says his new starvation diet has made him a new man. The once portly, 60-year-old radio and MSNBC host says cutting red meat and poultry out of his “Al Sharpton Diet” helped him drop over 300 pounds!

From NY Daily News:

Sharpton has shed 60% of his much-mocked weight — and he did it without surgery, diet pills or a single Weight Watchers meeting.

“I could take all the cartoons in the tabloid newspapers, but I couldn’t take my daughter punching me in the belly and asking why I was so fat,” Sharpton recalled. “That was my inspiration to lose the weight. And probably the last time anyone hurt my feelings.”

Around six years ago, Sharpton cut out red meat. A year later, he did away with chicken — no small feat for a guy who ate fried fowl three times a day (with grits and eggs for breakfast and on a sandwich in the afternoon, plus a half-chicken for dinner).

Eventually he cut out so much food that he was subsisting on a single lunchtime salad (albeit with one perk: a chopped egg). That’s when the weight really started coming off, at a rate of about 2 pounds a week. And as he got thinner, he found he missed food less and less.

The Rev Al is basically starving himself to maintain his thinner, unhealthy frame.

Will Republicans WIN the Senate?

Senators Reid And McConnell Testify On Proposed Constitutional Amendment On Campaign Finance

This is the biggest question being asked and filtering throughout the internet.

With the election being just eight (8) days away, every Gallup poll imaginable is predicting the Republicans to “WIN” the senate and rule the house.

It is also a prediction that Latino Americans will abandon the democratic vote because of the staggering approval on immigration reform. But “I’m laughing out loud” and wondering how is this even remotely possible when Republicans are opposed on economic issues like this:

  • GOP opposition to raising the minimum wage.
  • GOP refusal to renew unemployment benefits to the long-term unemployed.
  • GOP obstruction of Democratic proposals to lower payments and cut interest rates on student loans.
  • The incredibly unpopular GOP proposal to eliminate the Medicare guarantee and replace it with a voucher for private insurance.
  • The failed GOP proposal to privatize Social Security.

And dressing up Republican candidates (African-Americans especially), to disguise these positions is their trick to win over the majority but I don’t think it’s going to work; especially since most of these candidates personally embody these deeply unpopular stances.

So I ask the question here…Do you think Republicans will ‘WIN’ the senate?

Why are women attracted to power? Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Power plays a key role in attraction. All women are attracted to power. They want a guy who is powerful. There is however a misconception about power many men still struggle to understand this very day. They are unclear about what kind of power this is, that is so irresistible to the opposite sex.

When you think about powerful men, the first thing that might come to mind is money. Money represents power. And if a man has money, women will equate this to power. Why? Because women are attracted to power! 

Take Monica Lewinsky for example, she was attracted to former president Bill Clinton, why? Because he held the office of the most powerful man in the United States, he was president; the commander in chief. Like any female in Lewinsky’s position, she was willing to do anything for him based upon her attraction to his power.

Then you had late rapper Biggie Smalls, who lacked good looks but had women falling and fighting all over him left and right. Why? Because his talents gave him the title along with the money and power as one of the best hip hop artist of our time.
