When “Why are u not Married” is the question at those holiday gatherings…tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

holiday-questions-660x429It’s that age old question that you know is coming up, especially at those holiday gatherings amongst family and friends. You’re fine, you’re beautiful, you got this “kick-ass personality” successful and established, so why are you not married? How come some man hasn’t come along and snatched you up?

Why do people care? What are they thinking in the back of their minds…how could you be living your life without someone to share it with matrimonially? How could you be surviving without a significant other? But what puzzles me the most is, why should “happily ever after” be contingent upon another being?

When did being single become a sin?

Tune in tonight at 6:30 P.M. on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via Blog Talk Radio, to hear my commentary, experience and opinion regarding this subject matter when these questions are thrown at me. How Did you Give Thanks?

Ms_Mamie_HouseThanksgiving is a time for family and friends, yet some people still don’t understand this concept. The family structure is not as solid and strong as it us to be, this is why some family members choose to be scattered and unappreciative in a time of giving thanks.

Children no longer make their way to their parents or grandparents home for thanksgiving. Long gone are the days of “over the mountains and through the woods to grandmothers house we go”. Some people don’t understand that “family is not only important but the backbone of our being“. Some of us don’t get that memo until it’s too late.

I “thank God” that my girlfriends family still and always embrace the concept of “family first’ and the importance of family dinners and Thanksgiving gatherings year after year. My conscious was even called into question as she reminded me of how we’d meet at her mom’s house every Sunday after church, break bread and shared meals.

My girlfriend further reminded me, of the many Sundays I planted my feet firmly under her mother’s table for the macaroni and cheese, cornbread, yams and array of other soul food favorites. She said “yeah Tracy you could be blogging about Sunday dinners here, instead of all these restaurants you be going to every week”. I was so strongly convicted because she was RIGHT!! Her mom is known for preparing a meal at the drop of a hat and can fry fish like It’s nobody’s business.

This “friend of mine” was inherited because our families are friends and the love is genuine and this is where I spent my thanksgiving. Thankful and reminded that “their home is where my heart is and will always be” no matter how far I rome on this journey called life, because it is in their atmosphere of family, where I will always experience love, warmth, respect and positivity…and for that I’m thankful and grateful.

Author Of “Side Piece Chronicles” on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Joi Miner

We’ve all heard the term “side piece” before….it’s that guy or girl who does anything you want and they’re not your boyfriend, girlfriend or significant other, they’re just your side piece. Like a chicken meal with a biscuit or a big mac sammich with a “side” of fries, never the main course but just a little something on the side. They’re your 2:00 am booty call who know what’s up, no attachments expected, just sex, sex and sex.. with a real understanding they’re your piece on the side.

And in “side piece” relationships there comes the “side piece” agreements such as:

  1. You’re probably not the only one.
  2. You can only focus on stolen moments.
  3. You can’t mention the wife/husband or the main dude/chick, because they need NOT be your concern.
  4. You can anticipate frequent changes in your spur of the moment hookups.
  5. As a side piece you must maintain a positive vibe while in each others company for the success of your sitationship.
  6. You can’t blast your situationship to the world so no tagging your “side piece” on Facebook and don’t send him/her invitations to your family gatherings because your relationship is a side thing not a main thing.
  7. No discussions about where “your situation” is headed because it’s headed just where it is for the moment.
  8. And lastly, There are no guarantees about the outcome of your situationship: when you are a cheater at heart, and that won’t change… a “side piece” will never be promoted to the main chick, please know that yet another sidepiece will fill the vacancy that’s been left behind.

Ok…… so now that you’ve gotten a little gist on the rules that govern “side piece” relationships, join me tonight at 6:30 p.m. on Conversations Of A Sistah via Blog Talk Radio as I discuss this topic with the Author of “Side Piece Chronicles” Joi Miner.
