Tisha Campbell announced today that she’s filed for divorce after twenty years of marriage to husband Duane Martin. Wonder if this has anything to do with her recent meeting with Martin Lawrence and Tichina Arnold. Especially since rumor had it for years that Tisha’s personal off camera relationship with Lawrence went sour under Duane’s influence.
The Martin star, 49 announced in a statement via her rep on Thursday that she and Duane, 52, are ending their marriage.
“After 27 years of being together and two amazing children, it pains me to announce that I’ve filed for divorce,” Tisha, 49, said in the statement.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the couple separated Dec. 24, 2016.
Tisha, who cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce filing, has requested joint legal and physical custody of their children, the documents state. She has also requested that Duane pay her spousal support.
Religion, particularly Christianity, has played an outsize role in African American history. While most Africans brought to the New World to be slaves were not Christians when they arrived, many of them and their descendants embraced Christianity, finding comfort in the Biblical message of spiritual equality and deliverance. In post-Civil War America, a burgeoning black church played a key role strengthening African American communities and in providing key support to the civil rights movement. African Americans have been faithful to Christianity, yet endured so much and some ask the question, why didn’t God stop the suffering of His people?
It’s never a good practice and a bad habit to start. The transfer of money in relationships often complicate things, especially when the intent women have for the men they love often backfire. Some women will sacrifice their financial security by trying to buy a man’s love. That never work because men are socialized to provide and protect. But if a woman is treating him like a child then he will not gain financial responsibility to empower himself. Men who may accept money from women secretly resent or disrespects the woman that can give him money. This type of man will prefer to spend his life with a woman who made him believe he can overcome his financial obstacles, no matter how long it takes. Provided she’s willing to wait.
