“Move Over Ya’ll, The Neelys Are Coming To New York”

You all know who the Neelys are? (Pictured here)…That food Network couple who are so in love, they smooch before and after each ingredient is added to their food and slob each other down in between cooking a meal.

Well The New York times is reporting that Pat and Geena Neely, stars of the lovey- dovey food network show “Down Home with the Neelys” are bringing their famous barbecue to New York.

The restaurant will serve the same kind of barbecue they currently offer in their three operations in Tennessee and will be located on 1st and 62nd, right by the Queensboro Bridge. Their new restaurant will replace Merchants NY, which will close in August.

So stay tuned, because you all know when they open, I’m there! 🙂

“Grandmother Dead In Closet While Grandson Was Sexing”

This story is gruesome, especially since Larry Davis, 21, had absolutely no regard for the fact that his 76-year-old grandmother, Cora Davis was found dead in the same bedroom where he was having sex. Only she was stuffed in a closet covered with clothing.

When relatives hadn’t heard from 76-year-old Cora Davis for two days, they rushed to her apartment, only to find, her grandson having sex with a woman in the same room, police sources said.

An argument erupted and one of the relatives threatened to call police, when Davis ran off. The woman he was having sex with – a 20 year-old prostitute, stayed behind. Cops arrived and searched the apartment, finding Cora Davis’ body crammed in the bedroom’s closet under a pile of clothes.

Investigators found signs of hemorrhaging around Davis’ eyes which suggest she may have been strangled.

Law enforcement sources said there were several domestic incident reports filed at the home, but none involved violence. The elderly woman also had an order of protection out against her grandson.

Larry Davis, who is still being sought by police, was arrested early this month for trespassing.

“There Is Talk Of A Government Shut Down”

And what that means is, if lawmakers cannot reach an agreement on a bill to fund the government by April 8, a broad array of federal programs will come to a halt; pushing the economy further into a recession.

While we as Americans are facing so many other issues such as, a high unemployment rate, home prices falling, foreclosure crises, high gas prices, economic strains at home, the conflict in Libya and the struggles to survive; a prolonged federal shutdown would drain Americans’ confidence in their government. Plus the crisis in Japan have already made Americans worried.

And confidence in government have economic implications, it affects consumer spending, which drives about two-thirds of U.S. economy’s activity. Confidence also influences whether an entrepreneur will take out a loan to expand a business, or whether an investor will provide a fledgling company with capital. Even in the stock market, where trillions of dollars are at stake, investors’ decisions are often influenced by a feeling of confidence.

During the last major government shutdown, under President Bill Clinton, confidence dipped. The freeze began in December 1995 and lasted through January. The economic consequences, at that point, were minimal.

But this time around, a government shutdown would occur during a period of historic weakness, which in my opinion, is every republicans dream.

“Police Investigating This Beating As A Hate Crime”

Damian Furtch (pictured above), posted pictures of his injuries from a possible hate crime on his Facebook page.

Damian was left with two black eyes and multiple stitches after he was beaten at a West Village McDonald’s that cops are now investigating as a hate crime.

The confrontation started in the fast-food restaurant and spilled out onto Sixth Ave early Sunday, where Damian Furtch, 26, says he was set upon.

He and a friend had just left their jobs at the nearby Pink Tea Cup Restaurant and were inside the McDonald’s (below) when the two attackers started to harass them.

As Furtch was getting his butt kicked, that’s when the anti-gay epithets started to fly., all because he was wearing fluorescent colored clothing. Furtch later wrote on Facebook with the pictures of his injuries:

“I thought I was safe in the city I loved but apparently wearing fluorescent colored clothing and pink shoelaces really bother some fucking assholes to blind side me and hit me”  He angrily captioned the disturbing images, “Four Stitches, Thanks Bitches!”

An aspiring actor and model, Damian Furtch had just moved to New York from California.

Police are still searching for his attackers.

Nobody deserves to be beaten and/or harassed, regardless of their ethnicity or sexual preferences.

“Oprah Winfrey Will Officially Leave The Building”

On May 25, 2011.

After 25 years of the “Oprah Winfrey show” the queen of talk is officially hanging up her mic and leaving ABC to produce shows for her (OWN) Network on cable television. May 25 is Winfrey’s last air date.

The talk show diva has set the trail for others to follow and has made history as the most influential African American woman in the world.

Let’s wish Oprah well as she embark upon this new endeavor.
