“Anchor Fired For Disrespecting President Barack Obama”

Mark Halperin was suspended from his position as an analyst on MSNBC this morning for what he said about our fine as President Barack Obama. Halperin went way over the line of common decency and respect.

Halperin, a political analyst on MSNBC, called Obama “a dick” during Thursday morning’s live broadcast of “Morning Joe.”

Halperin asked if there was a 7-second delay on because he wanted to comment on “how the president behaved” during a press conference that Obama held on Wednesday. Halperin then said, “I thought he was kind of a dick yesterday.”

“Afrika Owes Will Spend Her Summer In Jail”

The 17-year-old Ivy League Harlem teen, kissed her mother goodbye before she was led away in cuffs to Rykers Island, to start serving a 90-day jail term under an unusual plea agreement.

Afrika is expected to plead guilty on July 7 to conspiracy and weapons charges, but started serving her jail time now to ensure her release early in the school year.

Owes spent two months in jail before the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church posted $25,000 bail. She was arrested Feb. 16 as part of a violent crack-slinging gang known as the “137th Street Crew.”

Owes was valedictorian of her Harlem eighth-grade class before her acceptance into the $43,800-a-year Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts. She left the school after two years due to unexcused absences, and transferred to Millennium High School in Manhattan.

Butts said he believed Owes would take full advantage of her second chance. “I’ve got faith in Afrika,” he said.

“More And More Couples Are Shacking Up Pre-Marriage”

According to a recent report: more couples, especially those without college degrees, are turning down marriage in favor of cohabitating and shacking up. Marriage is still far more common, with 58 percent of adults aged 30-44 married as of 2009, compared with 7 percent living with an opposite-sex partner, according to the study from the Pew Research Center.

But cohabitation rates have doubled over the past 15 years, and the marriage rate has plummeted among those without college degrees, according to the study. In 1995, 63 percent of adults in the 30-44 age bracket without degrees were married, but by last year that had fallen to 56 percent. Meanwhile the cohabitation/shacking up rate doubled from 4 to 8 percent.

The cohabitation rate also doubled among those with college degrees, from 2 to 5 percent, but the marriage rate remained almost unchanged at 71 percent.

“Some Collegues And Myself Dined Last Night”

At Mama Roxy’s!!! An italian restaurant in Rochelle Park, NJ.

The menu offers traditional Italian food, including brick-oven pizza with some tasty salads which are simply off the hook!

Taking the place of Austin’s BBQ, Mama Roxy’s opened following a full renovation that took 14 months to complete. The main dining room is a large, open display of tables bordered by booth seating with twin brick ovens at the rear of this level and a bar on the left. At the entryway of the roomy 250-seat space, a large chandelier gives way to a tall ceiling and second level (where we dined) for large events.

All salads and dinner entrées, including pasta, are available in either individual or family style servings. Baked or sautéed shrimp and grilled salmon round out the seafood entrées.

Brick-oven, thin-crust pizzas are available in 12- and 16-inch sizes, with toppings that include mushrooms, spinach, prosciutto, meatballs, anchovies and kalamata olives. White pies made with mozzarella or ricotta and calzones also are available. Salads include the Mama Roxy, which can be made with chicken, salmon or shrimp, as well as a Sicilian salad made with mozzarella, roasted peppers, olives, capers and anchovies. Along with the usual fried calamari, a popular appetizer is Mama Roxy’s chips, fried eggplant and zucchini served with homemade cucumber yogurt dip.

At first I wasn’t thrilled with my girlfriend Marsha’s choice to dine at Mama Roxy’s but in the end, it was well worth a good meal.

Located down the street from the Parkway exit and entrance to the Garden State Plaza, Mama Roxy’s provides cozy, casual Italian dining, so if you’re ever in the mood for good italian food and fine dining; check this place out.
