“Martin L. King Statue Unveiled in Washington, DC Today”

A stone sculpture honoring the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was unveiled on the National Mall in Washington D.C. today.

The gigantic ‘Stone of Hope’ sculpture of King was created by Chinese artist Lei Yixin. The statue was erected near the George Washington Monument at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The memorial is the first on the National Mall to honor an African-American man and the first to honor a person who did not serve as president.

Engraved on one side of the statue are the words “OUT OF THE MOUNTAIN OF DESPAIR: A STONE OF HOPE.”

Tears come to my eyes every time the commercial is shown on television with mention of “the table of brotherhood” set across the United States speaking toward hope for equality.

The dedication of King’s memorial will take place on August 28; marking the 48th anniversary of King’s historic “I have a dream” speech.

“What Happened To Rapper Lil Kim?”

The horribly disfigured woman above is none other than rap legend Lil Kim. Kim, who is a mere shadow of her former self, performed for the masses at the Winterbeatz Music Festival yesterday in Melbourne, Australia.

I don’t normally talk about celebrities like this, but had to say something about lil Kim. Rappers fabulous, 50 Cent, and singer Mario were also on the bill at the Winterbeatz Music Festival .

“Sherri Shepard’s Father Is Concerned About Her Hubby”

The View talk show host got married last weekend in Chicago and her dad is totally against the marriage as is her new mother-in-law. Sherri’s dad is concerned because Sherri has to support the family and he’s unhappy with Sherri’s plans to make her new husband her manager.

Ms. Shepard married Lamar Sally in a modest ceremony with Elizabeth Hasselbeck (her View co-host) as one of her 8 bridesmaids.

As for the mother-in-law, it’s the usual, “she’s not good enough for her son” and she thinks Sherri talks too much. And to make matters worse, the mother-in-law makes no secret of the fact that she likes one of Lamar’s ex-girlfriends better than Sherri. How tacky.

“The Donald Is Talking Shit About Pres. Obama Again”

During a recent interview with FOX News Host Great Van Susteran, Donald Trump discussed President Barack Obama’s vacation plans.

Well, the fact is, he takes more vacations than any human being I’ve ever seen. They used to complain about George Bush, but I understand he’s already exceeded George Bush and we’re not even through the year. So he likes vacation.

it sends a bad message. Here we have a country that really is going to hell in a handbasket. Let’s not kid ourselves. What’s happening to this country is horrible. All over the world, they’re talking about it. And we have a president that’s constantly — whether it’s Martha’s Vineyard or someplace else, constantly on vacation. I mean, all the time he’s on vacation! So I think it sends a very, very bad message. We have to work in this country to bring it back.

Next week Obama and his family will make their annual trip to Martha’s Vineyard for a 10-day vacation — against the advice of Democratic leaders.

In your opinion, does the Obamas’ refusal to cancel their Martha’s Vineyard vacation despite the economic turmoil and declining jobless rate send a clear message to voters in next year’s elections?

“MegaChurch Pastor Found Dead With Drugs On Him”

Florida Megachurch Pastor Zachery Tims, Jr. was found dead in his upscale hotel room in New York City on Thursday, according to published reports.

Tims, 43, the pastor of an 8,000-member mega church in Orlando, Fla., was found dead on the floor of a suite in the Times Square W Hotel, according to WSJ.

A maintenance worker entered the room and found Tims lying on his back between the living room and bedroom of the $400-a-night suite. He was unresponsive.

According to WSJ, police found an envelope in one of his pockets containing a powdery white substance. The substance is being tested for cocaine.

Tims’ death is a sad end to his inspirational rise from a drug addicted teenage criminal on the streets of Maryland. Tims loved to recount the story of how he was “miraculously saved” and aspired to be a man of God, leading his flock to prosperity and riches.

According to his memoir published in 2006, Tims put down the guns and drugs in favor of Christianity. He earned degrees in accounting and theology and worked at a ministry in Baltimore. In 1996, he and his wife Riva moved to Orlando, where they founded the New Destiny Christian Center.

The couple divorced in 2009, after Zachery admitted to having an affair with a stripper.
