Don’t Mess with Diana the Diva!

Diana Ross was pissed when she arrived at an upscale Italian eatery in Beverly Hills, CA and they refused to seat her. The leading lady of the popular 60’s girl group (The Supreme’s) was scheduled to have lunch with her daughter (we don’t know which one) but arrived ahead and was told she had to wait before being seated. Well Diana wasn’t having that, so she marched forth to a corner booth in the restaurant anyway, when she was told she wouldn’t be served because she was in violation of their policy; the diva wouldn’t budge.

“I’m sorry that Miss Ross had a problem with that and she feels that the rules didn’t apply to her. Our policy is that we don’t sit incomplete parties. If people jump the line, our policy is we don’t serve them, and she was told that. We treat everyone the same whether you’re famous or not. We love having her as a customer. We’d be happy to have her back.” The owner of the restaurant said.

Sources said that when her daughter finally arrived, a scene ensued and both women stormed out of the restaurant. The restaurant also noted, Diana nor her daughter had a reservation, which means they would have had to wait to be seated anyway.

Obese Women In The Nude, Challenges Traditional Notions Of Beauty

I’ve heard many times before that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Photographer Yossi Loloi think so, which is why in his project entitled “Full Beauty” he features nude photographs of women 420 pounds and larger.

With a deep respect for his subjects and a challenging eye toward both pop culture and art history, Loloi shows that the history of the female nude is a dangerously limited one. While it is a rarity to show curvy bodies in advertising, entertainment or even contemporary art, obese women are virtually never acknowledged in these realms, despite the growing number of Americans who are overweight.

By showcasing women up to 600 pounds, Loloi shows a softness and beauty to an often ignored body type.

On his website Loloi writes: “I believe we own ‘freedom of taste’ and one shouldn’t be reluctant of expressing his inclination towards it. Limiting this freedom is living in a dictatorship of aesthetics.”

Same Sex Couples Usher in the New Year!

Same-sex couples in Maryland were greeted with cheers and noisemakers held over from New Year’s Eve parties, as gay marriage became legal in the first state south of the Mason-Dixon Line on New Year’s Day.

James Scales, 68, was married to William Tasker, 60, on Tuesday shortly after midnight by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake inside City Hall.

“It’s just so hard to believe it’s happening,” Scales said shortly before marrying his partner of 35 years.

Six other same-sex couples also were being married at City Hall in the state of Maryland.  Ceremonies were taking place in other parts of the state as well.

Same-sex couples in Maryland was able to get a marriage licenses since Dec.  6, 2012 but they did not take effect until Today (January 1, 2013).

In total, nine states and the District of Columbia have approved same-sex  marriage. The other states are Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire,  New York and Vermont.

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 140,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 7 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

DJango Unchained was OFF The Hook!!!!

Forget what Spike Lee said about boycotting DJango unchained, he is not the author of what is an insult to another director’s creativity when it comes down to making movies. Spike Lee criticizes anyone who is doing what he’s done in “his heyday” and that is; producing a good film. He’s criticized Tyler Perry and quite frankly I’m tired of his two cents. Spike need to focus on his prized possession, the Knicks and Shut the hell up!!!

When I heard this movie was about slavery, I was Leary about going to see it thinking it was going to piss me off being reminded of those sad times in history. but I was surprisingly mistaken by the humor, romance, and candid story of this film and I loved it.

Written and Directed by Quentin Tarantino, Jamie Foxx is the real hero in the end, as his mentor Dr. King Schultz (played by Christopher Waltz – pictured with Foxx above) gives him the freedom as a slave, the knowledge as his mentor and some real fire arm power to go along with it…And although Quentin Tarantino has written the word “NIGGER” 176 times in his script, it was of no surprise to me because the word was as common then, as it is today.

This movie which star’s Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson (whose character you’d love to despise), Kerry Washington, Christopher Waltz and Jamie Foxx as Django. Jackson’s character was a dedicated Uncle Tom, he was the overseer of his master’s house and hated his “own kind” (other slaves) as if he weren’t ever considered apart of them. He was a free slave who oversees the other slaves — named Stephen.

“DJango Unchained” is a must see movie, for those I guess who have a mind of their own!
