Since the “not guilty” verdict of George Zimmerman in the killing of Trayvon Martin, the media has been abuzz with all kinds of outlandish and racist rhetoric regarding the outcome of the case. One Ivy League religious studies professor even called God a white racist in the wake of Zimmerman’s acquittal.
The questions being asked to me on and offline is, where does God stand in all of this? Why has God turned his back on this tragic situation? People are searching for answers and can’t understand why God has allowed such an injustice act to prevail.

Sounds like its open season on the black men in Florida.
Two Escambia County sheriff deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave after they opened fire early Sunday morning and shot an unarmed black man in his own driveway.
Roy Middleton, 60, had gone to find cigarettes in his mother’s white Lincoln Town Car, which was parked in the driveway of the man’s home in a quiet neighborhood in the town of Warrington.
A nosy neighbor, who apparently didn’t recognize Middleton, called 911 to report a possible robbery, and police arrived at the scene at approximately 2:40 a.m.
Their guns drawn, deputies Jeremiah Meeks and Matthew White told Middleton to put his hands where the officers could see them.
Middleton told the Pensacola News Journal that he initially believed that the voices were from a neighbor who was playing a joke on him. When he got out of the car, however, the deputies opened fire on him.
“It was like a firing squad,” Middleton told PNJ from his bed at Baptist Hospital. “Bullets were flying everywhere.” “He was just coming home like he usually does. I don’t understand why they had to use so much force under the situation,” Walker Middleton’s mother, told Fox 10 News. “I don’t understand how they could fire so many shots at him. He wasn’t resisting or anything and he was at his own house.”
Walker said she later found 17 shell casings, and her Lincoln peppered with bullet holes.
Neighbors and relatives describe Middleton as mild-mannered and law-abiding, and a teenage girl who witnessed the shooting said she did not see the 60-year-old provoke the incident.
“He wasn’t belligerent or anything,” the man was minding his own business in his own driveway.
Middleton is still trying to figure out why the confrontation happened in the first place.
“Even if they thought the car was stolen, all they had to do was run the license plate,” Middleton said. “They would have seen that car belonged there.”
Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting, and amid growing criticism, Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan held a press conference Monday. According to Morgan, the two deputies said that Middleton “made a lunging motion” out of the car causing them to “fear for their safety.”
Middleton, Morgan said, “had a metallic object in his hand.” That object turned out to be a flashlight attached to Middleton’s key chain.
The bones in Middleton’s leg are shattered and he will require the implantation of a steel rod in order to walk, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Award-winning music video producer Aswad Ayinde has been sentenced to 90 years in prison after a New Jersey court found him guilty of raping and impregnating his daughters.
The shamed star, who won an MTV award for directing The Fugees’ Killing Me Softly in 1996, admitted repeatedly raping five of his seven girls to create a ‘pure’ bloodline that would survive Doomsday.
Many of the assaults are said to have taken place from the mid-1980s to 2002 in an abandoned funeral home, before he and his wife separated.
Ayinde, 55, was able to conceal his plot by delivering the babies himself and beating and isolating his daughters by home schooling them, the court heard during his trial.
Ayinde buried at least two babies who died in the home, without notifying authorities or obtaining birth certificates, NBC New York reported.
According to court documents, the former music producer and self-proclaimed prophet fathered six children with his daughters over the years. He also had nine children with his former wife, Beverly, and another three with two other women.
A true story written and directed by a young Ryan Coogler, the film recreates the last day in the life of Oscar Grant. The 22-year-old unarmed black man in Oakland, CA who was shot and killed by a Bart Transit police office on New Years day 2009.
The film won the two top prizes at the Sundance Film Festival and has become a cause to be negative amongst critics. Activists are seizing the opportunity to promote the movie, which calls for justice and implies that nothing like it has occurred yet, since the cop who shot and killed Oscar Grant only served 11 months in prison and Grant’s family has prevailed in a large civil suit.
Grant’s character who is played by 22-year-old subject (Michael B. Jordan), who was a small-time criminal who cheated on his girlfriend and had been fired from a job at a grocery store. All of these flaws are depicted in the film, but nevertheless “Fruitvale Station,” a debut effort from young filmmaker Ryan Coogler, tries to fit a halo on its subject, seemingly to play up the audience’s sympathies and it works.
Despite Grants shortcomings the film show that he was an ordinary, everyday black man struggling to make his life right and did not deserve to be shot in the back by a cop while lying face down on a subway platform.
Although the movie is a true story, it fails to deliver more of the point that the shooting was a cover-up. The many witnesses, spectators and friends of Oscar Grant had cell phone footage of the shooting, yet their cell phones were confiscated illegally by police officers before they got off the train that New Years Eve.
Warning: Fresh off the heels of a George Zimmerman “not guilty” verdict, this film is a tear jerker that will piss you off into the reality of the injustices to all unarmed African American men being killed all over this country.
