Bill de Blasio elected mayor of New York City

bill-de-blasio-celebrates-mayoral-victory

He’s the first democratic mayor in New York city after a twenty year republican reign.

He has the perfect platform, the perfect voice and a beautiful biracial family in these ever-changing tough economic times.

Bill de Blasio was joined by his family onstage to deliver a victory speech at  the Park Slope Armory YMCA after winning the New York City mayoral election last night. de Blasio proclaimed his landslide victory a mandate for his liberal agenda  and a change in course after two decades of Republican rule at City Hall.

People are tired and fed up and they want change as de Blasio held a commanding lead of 74% to 24% — the largest margin of victory  by a non-incumbent in any mayor’s race in city history.

The first lady of New York is an African-American woman.

Washington has Michelle Obama and New York has Chirlane McCray.

Nearly seven out of 10 voters said the city needed to move in a new direction  from Bloomberg’s policies, according to the survey conducted by Edison Research.  And among those wanting change, de Blasio triumphed, capturing 85% of their  votes.

At 52, de Blasio is one of the youngest men elected mayor of New York. And as such, he also represents a generational break from Bloomberg, a 71-year-old  billionaire Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent who had charted his own unique course for the city.

Bloomberg’s reign is over, there’s a new mayor in town and his name is Bill!

Photo of the Day: Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade

Gabrielle Union Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade, 31, celebrated Gabrielle Union’s birthday at an intimate gathering with friends yesterday. She turned 41 today. The couple didn’t announce their engagement last night as rumor mongers had said they would. Gabrielle was previously married to retired NFL player Chris Howard.

Gabby has told friends marriage is an overrated experience. She believes a wedding isn’t necessary to express Love for one another. Especially if there are no children involved. Smart girl.

Michelle Obama Covers Vogue Magazine

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama talk to Jonathan Van Meter about their life as parents, their marriage, and their vision for America’s families.

In the in-depth article, Mrs. Obama, and her husband Barack, discuss their lives together and how his presidency has drastically altered the dynamics of their marriage.

The president often forgets that the world doesn’t revolve around him. Barack says Mrs. Obama constantly reminds him to make time for their daughters, Malia and Sasha:

And what Michelle has done is to remind me every day of the virtues of order.” The First Lady lets out a big laugh. “Being on time. Hanging up your clothes. Being intentional about planning time with your kids. In some ways I think . . . we’re very different people, and some of that’s temperamental, some of it is how we grew up. Michelle grew up in a model nuclear family: mom, dad, brother… My mother was this wonderful spirit, and she was adventurous but not always very well-organized. And, so, what that means is that I’m more comfortable with change and adventure and trying new things, but the downside of it is, sometimes—particularly when we were early on in our marriage—I wasn’t always thinking about the fact that my free-spirited ways might be having an impact on the person I’m with. And conversely, early in our marriage, Michelle provided this sense of stability and clarity and certainty about things, but sometimes she resisted trying something new just because it might seem a little scary or push her out of her comfort zone. I think what we’ve learned from each other is that sense of. . . .” “Balance,” she says. “There’s no doubt I’m a better man having spent time with Michelle. I would never say that Michelle’s a better woman, but I will say she’s a little more patient

Clive Davis is BiSexual… Did y’all know?

Clive_Davis_is_gay_550x422

Clive Davis used his autobiography, “The Soundtrack of My Life,” to let  the world in on a little secret. At 80 years old Clive comes clean about his bisexuality in the  book. Married twice, and many times a father, he has, it seems, been exclusively  involved with men for the last past 20 years. That’s one of the rare personal glimpses into Clive’s life. He’s more so credited as being the man who discovered Whitney Houston and he’s the current chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment.

clive-davisClive says he slept with both men and women during his sexual renaissance period. But he spent the past 20 years in stable relationships with just two men: a doctor for 13 years, and for seven years with another man he won’t name (probably a celebrity).

“He tells me bisexuality is ‘maligned and misunderstood’ but that it is his truth and he decided it was time for him to say so publicly,” writes ABC News anchor Cynthia McFadden, who interviewed Davis for “Nightline”.

15-year-old girl who performed at Obama’s Inauguration shot and killed in Chicago

Hidaya_Pendleton_ripA 15-year-old girl who performed with her high school band for President Obama at his 2nd Inauguration last week was shot and killed in the Kenwood area of Chicago Tuesday.

Hidaya Pendleton died just blocks from the high school she attended. The teenager was an honor student, a well-liked volleyball player, and majorette.

Pendleton was among a group of 10 to 12 teenagers seeking shelter from the rain under a canopy in a park on the 4500 block of South Oakenwald Avenue around 2:30 p.m., when a gunman jumped a fence, and opened fire on the teens.

Pendleton was shot once in the back. She was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. Another boy was hit in the leg. He was also taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

Police said Pendleton had no gang affiliations, but several of the teens she was with were believed to be known gang members.

It’s a shame; President Obama shed tears for the 20 children who died at Sandy Hook, but he has no tears to shed for the hundreds of black children who were gunned down in his own backyard since he’s been president.
