Tonite on “Conversations Of A Sistah” Are You Color Struck? Light skin Vs. Dark skin

For decades and ever since I can remember, light skin people have always been considered inferior, beautiful, fine or better looking than dark skin people. It’s a sick twisted fallible that some believe to be true because of a certain complexion. Be it light skin or dark skin., this might be “one’s” preference.

This color thing, light skin blacks verses dark skin blacks, originated in slavery. The man, the master separated the light skin slaves from the dark skin slaves, even having his light skin slaves working in-house in his mansion, while the dark skin slaves labored in his fields. The masters considered light skin blacks closer to white and easily acceptable.

So how did such self-hatred seep into the black culture? Slave masters ignited it when they separated their light skin house slaves from their dark skin field slaves. The dark skin slaves working in the field hated the light skin slaves working in the masters house. The light skin slaves were supposedly treated better, secretly worshipped and somewhat accepted. Why? Because that slave master was raping that black slave to begin with, which produced the light skin outcome from the slave masters seed.

So be sure to tune-in Thursday October 18th at 8:00 PM to “Conversations Of A Sistah” on “Conversations Live” and find out if you’re color struck or have that light skin verses dark skin mentality and I’ll break it down for you and tell you why??? Or email us at conversationsofasistah@readywriterproductioncompany.com

And you can’t judge me, my skin is fair, tune in on this subject by joining me on the air!!

“Self-Absorbed Individuals” Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Do you know anyone who is so totally into themselves? So much so, that they’re annoyingly self-absorbed? Their entire conversation is all about “me, me, me, me, me” and it’s to the point that you try to avoid all conversation and contact with them. Now there’s nothing wrong with loving yourself but it’s all about loving and accepting who you are, feeling secure about yourself and having a high self-esteem.

Are you self-absorbed? To some extent, most of us can be self-absorbed at particular times in our lives, to a lesser or greater extents. In many cases, we learn that it doesn’t get us the sense of fulfillment we’re seeking. However, by staying self-absorbed all of the time, you risk alienating many people, becoming narcissistic and only ever putting yourself first. Is this happening to you or someone you know?

Join me this Thursday October 11, 20128:00 PM on “Conversations Of A Sistah” as I address this topic.

And as usual the conversations are always continuing here but we welcome your emails on this topic at: conversationsofasistah@readywriterproductioncompany.com

You can access the show at the link —-> here!!! – and I’ll meet “you all” on the air!!!

Note: The women pictured in this post, were chosen randomly and are not my guest on tommorrow’s nights show. Thank you for your emails.

Addiction, Celebrity Deaths, Conversations Of A Sistah

Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah” Functioning with an addiction

On January 22, 2008 at about 2:45 p.m., actor Heath Ledger was found unresponsive in his New York city apartment by his house keeper; and after two weeks of intense media speculation, the New York city Chief Medical Examiner concluded that Ledger’s death was ruled an accident. Conclusions, based on an initial autopsy and a subsequent complete toxicology report. Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combination effects of several drugs. The examiner also ruled, “Ledger’s death was a result from the abuse of prescription medications.”

On June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson died while in his bed at his rented mansion at 100 North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills district of Los Angeles. Attempts at resuscitating him by Conrad Murray, his personal physician, were unsuccessful. The news of Michael Jackson’s death spread quickly online causing websites to crash and bringing twitter to a complete halt. On August 28, 2009 the Los Angeles coroner decided to treat Jackson’s death as a homicide; at the time of death, Jackson had been administered a deadly dose of propofol, lorazepam and midazolam. It was later revealed that Jackson hired a personal physician to administer the drugs to him nightly to help him sleep. After a full investigation of Jackson’s personal physician, Conrad Murray; Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter and is now serving time in a CA prison.

July 23, 2011, singer Amy Winehouse was found dead of alcohol poisoning in her London home. The singer had battled drugs and alcohol for years while recording some of her best-selling hits. I had no idea one of her many hits “Rehab” was actually her true to life lyrics.

Then this year, on February 11, 2012; New Jersey native Whitney Elizabeth Houston passed away in suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, submerged in the bathtub. A Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported the cause of Houston’s death as a drowning and the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use”. The office stated the amount of cocaine found in Houston’s body indicated that she used the substance shortly before her death. The manner of death was listed as an “accident”, this all after a failed comeback for Houston in 2009.

All of these entertainers were talented and great and they all made history in their own right. But these same famous entertainers were all living and functioning every single day, with an addiction. This just goes to show us that; not all abusers are down and out with their indulgences, but it is true that if one continues to abuse drugs and/or alcohol, it will sooner or later take a toll on not only your body, but your life.

If you or anyone you know is functioning with an addiction and wish to share your story for this week’s show topic on “Conversations Of A Sistah” on “Conversations Live“, do send us an email at conversationsofasistah@readywriterproductioncompany.com

I hope you’ll join us at 8:00 P.M. Thursday October 4th on “Conversations Live” as we talk about this topic…

Conversations Of A Sistah, What he said

“Why women should not think like men” Tune in Tonite at 8:00 PM on “Conversations Of A Sistah” with my guest: Mr. De Lacey Davis

To hear a recap of DeLacy Davis’ response on this subject, you can go to last night’s show by clicking here!!!

***************************

Self-appointed relationship guru Steve Harvey’s skyrocketed success behind his “Think Like a Man” franchise, which landed him a best-selling novel, a movie box office hit and in addition; a daytime talk show. Steve Harvey has done an excellent job at convincing women that they are in a dire state of affairs concerning black men and relationships.

Well…I never brought into Steve Harvey’s hype; didn’t buy his book and had absolutely no desire to see the movie generated from the best-selling book. I recognized the twice divorced comedian as an opportunist. Touting the black male crisis as the source of all relationship woes, Harvey was in my opinion; giving black women an emotional crutch that effectively allows them to become devoid of any accountability for their own failed relationships.

But Oh NO!!! I’ve never gone with every wind of doctrine based upon self-appointed opinions. I’d rather stand with a biblical principle of truth, concerning relationships between man and woman.

De Lacy Davis, (pictured right above), our featured guest this Thursday, September 27th on “Conversations Of A Sistah” will differentiate Harvey’s craze of “Think Like A Man” based upon real principle.

“Personally, I don’t know too many men who’d want to date a woman who thinks like a man” De Lacy said in our brief phone conversation concerning the subject.

Davis, of De Lacy Davis Consultants, LLC; is a powerful force to be reckoned with, overcoming trials; yet triumphed in the integrity, experiences and challenges of what he holds to be true. Best selling author of Black Cops Against Police Brutality: A Crisis Action Plan and known in the community as Brother De Lacy…, Davis is not one to turn his back or hold his tongue in the face of injustice or when an issue is being hoodwinked.

With too many impressive accomplishments to list, De Lacy Davis has appeared on MTV, Nightline, C-Span, Oprah, Hard Ball, News Talk, Good Day New York, Positively Black and Ricki Lake, just to name a few.

The whole Steve Harvey craze a good marketing blend, but now De Lacy’s going to tell us, “Why women should NOT think like men”.

Hope you’ll tune into “Conversations of a Sistah” on “Conversations LiveThursday night at 8:00 P.M. I can guarantee you, you won’t want to miss it!!!

Abstinence, Blog talk radio, Celibacy, Conversations Of A Sistah, Sex

Tune in TONIGHT: “Conversations of a Sistah” – on ‘Conversations Live’ my guest? “Ms. Ashley Lipscomb”

Hello CEO Readers: as announced in my previous post on September 9, 2012., I have joined “Conversations Live” with a weekly online radio segment of “Conversations Of A Sistah”. The show will begin each Thursday at 8:00 P.M. where the discussions will be open, deep, alive and constructive

Read full press release here!

Our topic of discussion this week:::: “Is abstinence played out?”

Now let’s define abstinence: abstinence is viewed as an act of self-control over the natural desire to have sex. The abstainer sets an example for those not able to contain their “base urges” to have sex.

In today’s society where premarital sex seem to be the common norm, is abstinence actually played out? Has it become outdated and ancient to preserve one’s self for marriage and the committed relationship?

With so many negative influences of reality television today, some of these shows seem to glamorize teenage pregnancy and professional bed hoppers such as; the Kim Kardashians of this world. And because so many women believe in “giving it up” so quickly and loosely, this is a subject we will delve into on my show tonight.

And because abstinence seem to be a really big issue/problem/challenge amongst young people, my guest Ms. Ashley Lipscomb, 23, (pictured above right), will share her view on abstinence: is it a lifestyle or a fade? A moral decision or religious criteria?

A 2011 graduate of Hampton University, Miss Ashley is an avid youth leader in her church and a real leader amongst her peers and she stands out in the midst of many. To view Ms. Ashley’s you tube video (s) of past speaking engagements, view Ashley speaks!!

So… are you saving yours or are you giving “it” away?

As usual, you can post your comments and/or questions regarding tonight’s show here; or email us at: conversationsofasistah@readywriterproductioncompany.com
