A native of Camden, Mississippi, the artist sat down with me two years ago during our Black History Segments to discuss his “Dreams B.I.G.” CD.  

A talented rapper who against all odds is moving forward to success with hit after hit, is racing the charts.

Boycott, Jada Pinkett Smith, Janet Hubert, Oscars award show

There Is So Much Buzz About This Oscar Boycott.

jada-janet-550x318Every since Jada Pickett Smith and Spike Lee, waged an all-out war and called for a boycott against the ‘Oscars’ for not acknowledging a single African American actor in any category from the academy; everyone seem to be weighing-in with an opinion.

It seems Mrs. Smith’s agenda is a self-serving one. She is reportedly upset that her husband Will Smith was not nominated for an Oscar for his role in the flop movie Concussion.

The first person to respond to Jada was Janet Hubert, the original “Aunt Viv” from the “Fresh Prince Of Bel Air” who seem to have this on-going beef with Will Smith.

“Girl please, why are you always speaking for your man?” Hubert said in a video posted on Facebook. “It was the best performance of his career, which says this is the best performance HE has ever done, not necessarily academy worthy.”

It’s obvious Janet is still bitter and lil bit salty over her premature departure from the 90’s sitcom after she was given the “boot” for demanding more money.

On Tuesday, talk show host Wendy Williams made a similar point by suggesting Jada is calling for a boycott of the Oscars because her husband Will Smith wasn’t nominated.

TMZ caught up with Tony Rock (Chris Rock’s) brother to get his take on the situation, because after all, Chris Rock will host the event when it airs on February 28th.

It’s pathetic how black people constantly seek validation and recognition from the descendants of slave masters. Rock stressed in the video how “We don’t need to kiss white people’s ass’s for an Oscar” “We can create our own shit, cause they gon copy s anyway”.

We don’t see white people protesting over the lack of nominations for whites on black awards shows.

MLKConversations Of A Sistah is back! And our topic of discussion is Racism in America!

Racism has fostered inequality and discrimination for centuries, as well as influencing how we relate to other human beings as a whole. Racial hatred and bigotry is also on the rise in this country at an all-time high. It’s like history is repeating itself with the massive killings of unarmed African-America men, women and children.

Since the rise in these killings around the country, the unrest has unveiled the “Black Lives Matter” organization. An International Activist Movement, originating in the African American Community that campaigns against violence geared toward people of color. This organization has in many ways adopted some of the same strategies as the Civil Rights Movement. The purpose of the movement was to make sure that all citizens, all races, all religious groups and all nationalities are treated equally under the law.

Patti LaBelle, 71, Dating Her Drummer, 41

couple-550x360R&B legend Patti LaBelle is living a life straight out of American Gigolo, the 1980 film about an emotionally unavailable high priced male escort.

The 71-year-young songstress, who revived her career selling sweet potato pies for Wal-Mart, is dating her drummer, 41-year-old Eric Seats.

The couple met after he was hired to be her drummer last year.

“She tried to keep it quiet, but everyone around her has figured it out by now. She’s completely smitten with him,” a source told London’s Daily Mail tabloid.

LaBelle’s 42-year-old son, Zuri Edwards, is reportedly unhappy that his mother is dating a man younger than he is.

Seats is known around the music industry for targeting rich older women. He reportedly loves them then leaves them. But Patti’s friends aren’t concerned that Seats might be an American gigolo.

“She hasn’t been this happy in years,” a source confided to the Daily Mail. “Patti was so happy he moved to Philly with her. She loves having him with her all the time. She even has a big portrait of the two of them up on her wall in her bedroom,” said the source.

Seats has toured with Stevie Wonder, Mary J Blige and Missy Elliott, in addition to producing songs for Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah, 702 and Tank.

NCAA Football Fans Not Happy With Ciara’s Dress

R&B singer Ciara Harris shocked NCAA college football fans by wearing a nude dress to sing the national anthem at the NCAA championship game on Monday. Ciara’s breasts were clearly visible under the sheer see-through fabric.

Many NCAA fans said Ciara might as well be wearing nothing since nothing was left to their imaginations.

The 32-year-old mother-of-one belted out the national anthem as some fans plugged their ears inside the stadium.

The singer didn’t apologize to fans for her dress or her “singing” on Monday.

“Truly Grateful For This Moment, and To Be A Part Of A Special Night #NationalChampionship,” she tweeted after the game.

But many fans were not grateful for those precious lost minutes they will never get back.

One Twitter user, whose username is NMitchellRyan, said “The real loser of the #NationalChampionship was #Ciara. As soon as she started “singing”, my baby started crying!”
