She Was Bullied For Her Dark Skin and had a tough time navigating through her elementary school years. The bullying effected her self-esteem so much so, that her mother transferred her to another school. She would cry a lot, and talk about how she doesn’t like her dark skin tone because of the comments other kids made about her in school. Well today, with the help of her older sister, she turned that negative in a positive and now she’s “Flexin in her Complexion“.

Tulsa Cop Who Shot Terence Crutcher Found Not Guilty

Betty Shelby, the former Tulsa, Oklahoma cop who shot unarmed motorist Terence Crutcher during a traffic encounter, has been acquitted of manslaughter.

“I feared for my life,” she told a Tulsa jury on Monday.

The jury never got a chance to hear a comment made by Shelby’s husband, Officer David Shelby, calling Crutcher “a bad dude,” as he hovered in a helicopter over the scene.

Crutcher’s death touched off massive protests by Black Lives Matter and others around the country.

Video footage released by police showed Crutcher walking slowly toward his SUV while officers yelled orders at him to stop.

Shelby fired the shot that killed Crutcher without provocation as he stood outside his truck.

Self Hatred Is Real Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Tennis star Serena Williams is the topic of conversation these days, since getting engaged and pregnant by Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian. And according to the greatest female tennis player and quite possibly the greatest female athlete of all time, out of all the men she’s dated, the white men especially her now fiancé, have treated her better than the Black men she’s dated. Many are saying, it’s self-hatred when you marry and pro-create outside of your race.

We’re all entitled to our opinions because you can’t control who you love or can you? But when you cohabitate and pro-create outside of your race, is it self hate? When you long to have mixed children because you want your children mixed breed, is that self-hate? Do you look in the mirror and hate the person staring back at you?

Meet the Woman Barack Obama Reportedly Proposed to Before Michelle?

Barack Obama clearly ended up with the right woman, but with news of his pre–Michelle marriage proposal making headlines, our curiosity about Sheila Miyoshi Jager was piqued.

In Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama, Jager told Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer David J. Garrow that she had been seriously involved with the future president in the mid- to late ’80s and early ’90s. Not only did they move in together, but he proposed marriage — twice.

However, Obama’s political ambitions reportedly did them in; a mutual friend of the couple recounted that Obama explained that “the lines are very clearly drawn: If I am going out with a white woman, I have no standing here.” (For the record, Jager is of Dutch and Japanese ancestry.) Garrow wrote that Obama “felt trapped between the woman he loved and the destiny he knew was his,” implying that race factored into the Chicago politico’s decision to settle down with Michelle.

According to the book, Jager met Obama in the mid-’80s while doing community organizing in Chicago. Things turned romantic and they moved in together.

“In the winter of ’86, when we visited my parents, he asked me to marry him,” Jager, 53, recalled. She said that she turned down his proposal not for racial reasons but because her parents were concerned about Obama’s professional prospects and thought that Jager, then 23, was too young. (On the issue of race, a close family friend of Jager’s parents said that Obama came across to them like “a white, middle-class kid.”)
