Dallas Cop Charged with Manslaughter in Death of Accountant

A Dallas police officer has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a 26-year-old accountant. An independent investigation by the Texas Rangers determined there was enough evidence to charge Officer Amber Guyger, who shot Botham Shem Jean at his own apartment door on Friday, Sept. 7.

Jail records show Guyger was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 9., and released on $300,000 bond.

Guyger, 30, who is also known by an alias Amy Gyger, was a member of the Dallas police force for four years. She was the only female member of an “elite critical response team of about 10 officers who make high-risk arrests in the division’s crime hot spots.”

After working a 15-hour shift (including overtime) on Friday, Guyger arrived home around 7:30 p.m. (CST) at the upscale South Side Flats apartments located several blocks from police headquarters.

She reportedly parked her car on the wrong floor of the parking deck, and walked to Mr. Jean’s apartment, which was one floor up from hers and the only apartment in the hallway with a red doormat.

When her key didn’t work in the lock, Mr. Jean opened the door, startling her.

According to the Dallas Police, Guyger, who was described as “tired,” was “confronted” by Mr. Jean when he opened his door.

No words were exchanged before Guyger unholstered her service weapon and shot Jean, who was pronounced dead at a local hospital on Friday.

Guyger’s key was still in Jean’s door lock when police and paramedics arrived.

Building management said the doors can be unlocked by a key, an electronic keypad and a key fob which is uniquely programmed for each door.

When Guyger tried to turn her key, the electronic keypad flashed red — indicating she was at the wrong door. But she continued turning the key until Jean opened the door.

A neighbor several doors down from Jean’s apartment claims she heard a cop yelling “Open up! Open up!” prior to the gunshot.

Jean was an accountant who worked as a risk assessment associate for the consulting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Dallas.

He hailed from a prominent St. Lucian family of politicians and government ministers. He graduated from Harding University and he also studied accounting and mathematics at St. Mary’s College. Jean was a Young Leaders president, a member of the debate team and he sang in the choir.

He also mentored youth at the College Church of Christ in Searcy, Arkansas.

Hundreds of mourners turned out on Saturday for a “celebratory prayer vigil” at Dallas West Church of Christ on Sunday. Mourners included his mother, Allison Jean, who arrived on Saturday from her native St. Lucia.

“Botham loved God. Botham loved you. Botham loved mankind,” Allison Jean said. “Botham is singing with the angels, and I want to be in that choir. I want to see my son again.”

Aretha Franklin Laid to Rest in style

As thousands of mourners line up to bid a final farewell to the Queen of Soul, as she lie in repose at the Charles H. Wright museum of African American History in her hometown of Detroit.

The Queen of Soul is wearing Christian Louboutin 5-inch patent leather pumps that match a tea-length ruby red dress made of lace – with a full tulle skirt and chiffon overlay, said Linda Swanson, executive vice president of Swanson Funeral Home. The dress has beading on the bodice and shoulders, and a boat neck collar with a chiffon bell sleeve altered by Swanson, who is also a seamstress.

The music legend is wearing custom-designed beaded earrings.

Franklin is resting in a solid bronze Promethean casket plated in 14-karat gold. It is the same type of coffin in which singers James Brown and Michael Jackson were buried, according to The Telegraph of Britain.

The interior is finished with champagne velvet. Franklin’s title, “Queen of Soul,” and her name “Aretha Franklin,” are embroidered in the casket lining with gold metallic thread.

Tributes will be held all week in her honor with a private funeral service to follow, which is scheduled for Friday August 31st.

Georgia officer restraining 10-year-old during father’s arrest was excessive!

A Georgia police officer’s conduct with an emotional 10-year-old boy is drawing scrutiny after the police department released body camera video of an officer restraining the child.

On Friday, officers with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department were called to a home in relation to a domestic violence suspect.

Officers carried out their investigation and placed the suspect under arrest.

While taking the man into custody, police said the boy became emotionally distraught and started running around, begging officers not to arrest his father.

Body camera footage captured by an officer was posted on Facebook.

At first, the boy is seen being restrained by the adults around him while he yelled at officers.

Back up,” one woman yelled, pulling the boy back. “Who you trying to fight?”

When those attempts to deter the child were unsuccessful, he became more upset and started running around and jumped towards an officer.

The officer is then seen wrestling the child to the ground before forcefully restraining him.

“Calm down, calm down man,” the officer called out.

Within a few minutes, the child settled down and started to apologize.

“Understand,” the officer said. “Yes, sir,” the child replied. “You don’t run up on an officer.”

The boy settled down and officers helped him to his feet and took off the handcuffs.

Officers then escorted the boy to see his father who was in the back of a cop car.

The child asked his father for his phone and said he was going to call someone to bail him out before letting out a cry and patting his father on the head.

“He didn’t do nothing,” he insisted.

The officer allows the boy to approach the patrol car, leading him to the window where his father was seated. The boy takes his father’s phone, letting his dad knows that he’ll call someone who will be able to bail him out.

“Will you get out, Daddy?” he asks. “I love you.”

“Be strong,” the father, who was restrained in the back of the vehicle tells his son, as he leans his head toward the window so his son can pat his head.

The department released the body camera footage after the boy’s family posted their own video to Facebook.

(Sic) didn’t do anything but was tryna talk to his dad who was in the police car,” Ariel Collins, the boy’s cousin, wrote on her Facebook post.

Police Chief Scott Freeman ordered an internal investigation due to a “juvenile involvement.”

Whoopi Goldberg Got Heated with Judge Jeanine Pirro On The View!

Whoopi Goldberg went OFF on Judge Jeanine Pirro on the view yesterday. The Judge was there to promote her book “Liars, Leakers and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy” But things got heated over Trump’s stance on immigration and other policies he’s implementing, when the ladies of the View took offense to the Judge’s stance for President Trump. Judge Jeanine Pirro told co-host Whoopi Goldberg she was suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome”.

But rather than allow her to promote her book, Goldberg and the rest of the co-hosts pressed Pirro to defend her staunch support of President Trump.

Tensions escalated when Pirro, who is not a doctor, diagnosed Goldberg with “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” an explosive disorder characterized by angry outbursts and unprovoked attacks on President Trump and his supporters.

Golberg clapped back, “Listen, I don’t have ‘Trump derangement.’ Let me tell you what I have. I’m tired of people starting a conversation with ‘Mexicans are liars and rapists.’”

She continued: “Listen, I’m 62 years old. There have been a lot of people in office that I didn’t agree with. But I have never, ever seen anything like this. I have never seen anybody whip up such hate. I have never seen anybody be so dismissive”.

What I suffer from is the inability to figure out how to fix this. That’s my issue.”

Pirro ignored Goldberg’s outburst and, saying, “You know what’s horrible? When people who shouldn’t be here end up murdering the children of American citizens!”

That infuriated Goldberg, who replied, “What is horrible is when the President of the United States whips up people to beat the hell out of people! Say good-bye. I’m done!

The show cut to a commercial, and when it returned, Pirro was not on the set.

Goldberg apologized to her co-hosts for losing her cool.

You saw me do something I very rarely do,” Goldberg said. “You saw me lose my cool. And I’m not proud of it and I don’t like it.”

Hours later, video leaked of the verbal altercation between Goldberg and Pirro backstage.

Donald Trump

“President Trump is Putin’s Poodle!”

The man that it pains us to say is the President of the United States, stood with Russian President Vladimir Putin before the entire world and denounced his own intelligence committee.

The Russian president counters the mountain of evidence with an empty and robotic assertion: “the Russian State has not interfered and will never interfere in internal American affairs.”

Really???? Associated Press reporter — and Daily News alum — Jonathan Lemire gave Trump a choice, flat out: “who do you believe?”

At first, Trump refused to answer the question. He instead attacked Democrats for losing the election and dissembled, weaving together bits of conspiracy theories. Then he got down to brass tacks: He believes Putin. Angering both parties and sending media pools into a frenzy.

Trump said, referring to his director of national intelligence. “Putin says it’s not Russia. I don’t see any reason why it would be” Russia.

That sound you hear is the head of the U.S. executive branch stabbing his intelligence agencies in the back in order to side, against all evidence, alongside the leader of a country that meddled in an American election and wants to do it again.

We’re all to blame,” said the American President Monday, the foreign-policy equivalent of his “both sides” stance just as he took after a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, VA.

Trump has made his position crystal clear which is a national tragedy and a state of emergency.
